FAQs
Q. Can I claim my massage with my health insurance?
A. Health insurance does not provide extras cover for Swedish Massage. Only Remedial Massage can be claimed through health funds.
Mindful Wellness Journey is currently in the process of gaining a Diploma of Massage Therapy, which will allow us to provide Remedial Massage services in the future.
Q. What is the difference between Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage?
A. Key differences include:
Pressure: Swedish Massage uses light to moderate pressure, while Deep Tissue Massage applies more intense pressure.
Focus Area: Swedish Massage is generally full-body or focuses on broad areas such as the back and legs. Deep Tissue Massage targets specific areas of tension.
Purpose: Swedish Massage is primarily for relaxation, while Deep Tissue Massage aims to relieve chronic pain and muscle tension.
Q. What do I wear for a massage treatment?
A. You may arrive in any comfortable clothing. Before the treatment, we ask clients to undress to their underwear. You will be covered with towels or sheets for privacy at all times, and only the areas being treated will be uncovered.
For example, if we are working on your back, you will lay face-down with your body covered. We will then drape appropriately so only your back is exposed, with towels positioned securely for comfort and privacy.
Q. How often do you recommend Swedish Massage?
A. The recommended frequency varies depending on individual needs. Generally, we suggest monthly sessions for relaxation and stress relief. More frequent treatments may be helpful for muscle tension or chronic pain management.
Q. What is the difference between mindfulness and meditation?
A. Mindfulness is the state of being fully present and engaged in the moment. Meditation is a practice that often involves focusing the mind to achieve calmness and clarity.
Mindfulness can be practised anytime during daily activities, while meditation typically requires dedicated time and space.
Q. What do I wear for meditation?
A. Wear light, comfortable clothing suitable for the weather. Your body temperature may drop during meditation, so it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket or shawl.
Q. What activities do you offer in your mindful workshop?
A. We offer a range of activities, which may include mini gardening, light food preparation, beading, and arts and crafts. Activities vary between sessions.
Q. What refreshments and snacks are offered?
A. We provide tea, coffee, water, biscuits, seasonal fruit, and light sandwiches.
If you have dietary requirements, please let us know so we can accommodate your needs.
